MIA becomes eighth gold sponsor

12 Septembr 2006:

The New Zealand marine industry has thrown its collective weight behind the New Zealand Millennium Cup in Palma, Spain; the nine leading companies represented amongst the family of sponsors have now been joined by the Marine Industries Association (MIA), an organisation with 470 members.

The MIA’s mission is to foster development of the New Zealand Marine Industry, assisting its members with building successful businesses.

Its presence at the event in Spain, where the eyes of the superyacht industry will be on New Zealand for one day, will enable it to further spread the message that New Zealand is a desirable destination for those wishing to build boats.

“One of our roles is to increase profitable growth for the export industry, and we have identified the Millennium Cup as a key way of introducing our members to key customers,” says Peter Busfield, executive director of the MIA.

The New Zealand marine industry’s total annual turnover is in excess of $1.5billion. The export market contributes over $550 million.

The MIA has joined Events Clothing, High Modulus, Lloyd’s Register, Marten Spars, Southern Spars and Yachting Developments as Gold Sponsors of the event. Robinson Marine Interiors and Alloy Yachts are Platinum Sponsors.
